At Shoot Point Blank ranges, we are proud of the community we’ve built—a community of people with different backgrounds and lifestyles who nevertheless share a common interest in firearms and in Living Confidently.
What does Living Confidently mean? Every member of the community has his or her own unique definition and their own one-of-a-kind story to tell!
That definition may include traditions of family and service, personal independence, the love of an exciting sport, and much more, in a wide range of exciting combinations. In this feature, we share the stories of our associates. We hope you’ll accept our invitation to join the community and create your own story of Living Confidently!
Say hello to Patrick Culver from our Mokena, IL - Chicagoland location and this is his story of Living Confidently.
My wife and I have been married for 48 years and have two great children. Our daughter has her doctorate and works in the healthcare industry; our son owns a successful trophy and awards business. We also have three wonderful grandkids. Along with working part-time at Shoot Point Blank, for the past 20 years I have owned and operated an employment/executive search firm.
I’m a proud military veteran, having served in Vietnam with the historic 101st Airborne Division. I’m also a certified Smith & Wesson and Sig Sauer armourer, so have quite a bit of firearms experience that I enjoy sharing with customers at our Mokena indoor shooting range.
My wife and I love to travel when we have the opportunity. We’re both certified scuba divers and greatly enjoy the water. I’m also an avid cyclist, and volunteer to feed the less fortunate when I can. I like to keep myself busy during other free time with DIY home remodeling and creating wood projects.
Because of my military experience I believe that your firearm needs to be maintained after every use, a step that can be overlooked by the casual shooter.
To be a responsible firearm owner, you need to have the ability to maintain and clean your firearm, and this is knowledge I’m happy to pass along to our customers.
I believe to be successful in life you must be willing to do whatever is morally and ethically right to get the job done.
And when in doubt, I also think back to my Grandpa’s Words of Wisdom: Life is too short. If you don’t enjoy what you’re doing, it’s time to find something you DO enjoy. I hope to see you sometime at our Chicago area indoor range, so I can share my love of shooting with you.
